A hurricane has developed in the Caribbean. Hurricane Tomas is currently located 40 miles South East of St Lucia and 35 miles East of St Vincent. Tomas is currently a Category One Hurricane with sustained winds of 75mph. Additional strengthening of this storm is forecast during the next 48 hours.
A hurricane warning is in effect in the following areas
St Vincent and the Grenadines
St Lucia
Martinique
A Tropical storm warning is in effect for the following areas:
Barbados
Dominica
Trinidad and Tobago
Grenada
At this time we are advised that as a precaution the St Lucian Authorities have temporarily closed local businesses and the Airport.
